BACKGROUND
In April of 2022 I had just switched over from full time to freelance and found myself wanting to market my abilities as an illustrator as well as a graphic designer. The majority of the paid work I'd done up to that point had been vector based and I was going through a fascination with vector artists like Malika Favre, so it seemed like a good place to start. On April 4th I posted "Yowza in Yellow" on my social media and began my journey as an illustrator. While my typical style has evolved beyond these early techniques, I look back on these pieces with fondness for where I started.

PROCESS & TECHNIQUE
These four designs didn't go through much of a rigorous preparation process; I used a random image generator for my reference images and then set about trying to recreate them on the canvas using the pen tool in Illustrator. No sketches, no research phase, just pure autotelic creation.
